Reading this data
- 01
One source per figure
Each row links to the PDF of the INSP bulletin it comes from. The site neither corrects nor fills in figures: an empty cell is a value the bulletin does not give.
- 02
New cases and deaths: a calculation
The “new” columns are the difference between two readings for the same area, computed by the site. They may differ from the daily figures published by the bulletin.
- 03
Errors are possible
The figures are read from the PDFs, partly by a program: errors remain possible. The bulletin PDF, linked from every row, is always authoritative.
In detail
What to know before reusing these figures.
Errors are possible
The figures are read from the bulletin PDFs, largely by a program. The bulletin format has changed several times since May, and a misread table can shift a value by one column or one zone. Automatic checks verify each bulletin (sum of provinces against the national total, new cases below the total, recomputed fatality) and the discrepancies found are corrected by hand, but they cannot catch everything. The bulletins themselves sometimes contain errors or revisions, which the site reproduces without correcting. The bulletin PDF, linked from every row, is always authoritative. If you spot an error, write to me with the date, the area and the column. Report an error →
New cases and deaths: a calculation
The “new” columns are the difference between two successive readings for the same area, computed by the site; they may differ from the new cases the bulletin publishes for the day (a case reassigned from one zone to another, for example). A negative difference is a downward revision by the source. When the previous reading is more than a day old, the difference shows how many days it covers.
Missing bulletins
The INSP never published SitReps no. 003, 029, 043, 045, 063, 075, 076, 142. Those days have no row; the next difference then covers several days.
Catch-ups
On 22 and 30 July 2026 the difference covers more than one day: a database harmonisation on the 22nd (the bulletin reports +97 cases for the day), and 28 and 29 July without a bulletin on the 30th (+73 reported). These rows carry the mention “rattrapage” (catch-up).
3 October 2026
SitRep no. 142 was not published. The 3 October row is reconstructed: the total of no. 143 minus its 24-hour new cases and deaths. It carries the mention “reconstitue” (reconstructed).
Provinces and zones
A province's total may differ from the sum of its zones: bulletins count separately the cases and deaths not yet assigned to a zone. The first cases in Haut-Uélé and Tshopo were counted in Ituri until 10 July.
