Deaths outside a centre: 25 in Nord-Kivu, 6 in Ituri and 1 in Haut-Uélé. Those in a treatment centre: 3 in Nord-Kivu, 3 in Ituri and 1 in Tshopo. 04The response

1,923 reports of possible patients ("alerts") were received; 1,658 were checked and 372 retained as suspected cases, to be tested. Sud-Ubangi did not send its figures. Of 493 samples tested in the laboratory, 91 were positive, that is 18.5 %. 87.5 % of the people who had been close to a patient (the "contacts") were seen by follow-up teams, above the 85% threshold the INSP has set itself. Ebola treatment centres are 44.0 % full: 516 patients for 1,172 beds. Beyond capacity: Nord-Kivu, 317 patients, 139.0 % full. Safe burials, carried out by protected teams to avoid contagion: 134 deaths reported, 117 burials carried out, 101 bodies tested. Around new cases, 64 prevention rings were set up out of 127 expected, that is the disinfection of the home and the follow-up of relatives. Vaccination: 2,653 people have received the Ervebo vaccine since the campaign began on 26 Aug 2026: 2,153 in Tshopo and 500 in Bas-Uélé (figure of 5 Sep 2026). At control points on roads and at borders, 269,580 travellers passed through and 97.7 % had a temperature check.

05The difficulties encountered

In Ituri, six treatment centres remain full on the suspected-case side, 26 prevention rings out of 71 are open, the staff of three control posts are on strike over unpaid wages and insecurity still blocks the Avakubi post. Contact follow-up is slipping in Tshopo. In Nord-Kivu, the centres are overflowing (139% occupancy), nearly one patient in two is treated outside a CTE and 10 homes out of 13 have been disinfected. In Tshopo, a confirmed patient who fled the centre is still at home, the Makiso-Kisangani incinerator is still broken and the Bafwasende vaccination site is not open. In Haut-Uélé, no communication material is left, and psychosocial staff are unpaid. In Bas-Uélé, still no treatment centre and no ambulance, and the Ervebo vaccine is out of stock in Buta.
