04The response

2,493 reports of possible patients ("alerts") were received; 2,492 were checked and 405 retained as suspected cases, to be tested. 73.1 % of the people who had been close to a patient (the "contacts") were seen by follow-up teams, below the 85% threshold the INSP has set itself. Fewer than three contacts in four were seen in the following provinces: Nord-Kivu. Ebola treatment centres are 54.1 % full: 816 patients for 1,507 beds. Beyond capacity: Nord-Kivu, 364 patients for 354 beds. Safe burials, carried out by protected teams to avoid contagion: 106 burials carried out and 97 bodies tested. The 3 deaths reported do not come from the same provinces: not all of them publish these figures, and the three numbers are not comparable. Around new cases, 39 prevention rings were set up out of 68 expected, that is the disinfection of the home and the follow-up of relatives. Vaccination: 8,861 people have received the Ervebo vaccine since the campaign began on 26 Aug 2026: 6,897 in Tshopo (figure of 28 Sep 2026), 1,147 in Bas-Uélé and 817 in Ituri (figure of 30 Sep 2026). Since the previous bulletin, 76 more in Bas-Uélé. At control points on roads and at borders, 268,489 travellers passed through and 97.0 % had a temperature check.

05The difficulties encountered

In Ituri, only 21 of 39 vaccination rings have been opened for lack of teams in Komanda, Mangala and Mandima and because of a strike in Bunia, 10 bodies were not sampled, resistance persists in Bambu, Rwampara, Mangala and Fataki, no household, health facility or school received a kit, and only 13 affected health zones out of 28 have psychological support. In Nord-Kivu, only 7 of 30 households are decontaminated, none received a kit, and the average infection-prevention score in Butembo is just 42%. In Haut-Uélé, only 4 of 7 health zones report their activities, Pawa and Wamba have no compliant treatment centre, and psychosocial workers lack motorbikes in Wamba and Boma Mangbetu. In Tshopo, confirmed cases still in isolation mean prevention measures must be maintained, and psychosocial workers need training in Wanie-Rukula and Bafwasende. In Bas-Uélé, there is still neither a compliant treatment centre nor an ambulance, and vaccination is waiting for a validated micro-plan and funds.
