Of 462 samples tested in the laboratory, 71 were positive, that is 15.4 %. 79.2 % of the people who had been close to a patient (the "contacts") were seen by follow-up teams, below the 85% threshold the INSP has set itself. Around new cases, 33 prevention rings were set up out of 48 expected, that is the disinfection of the home and the follow-up of relatives. Vaccination: 8,076 people have received the Ervebo vaccine since the campaign began on 26 Aug 2026: 4,953 in Tshopo (figure of 27 Sep 2026), 1,500 in Bas-Uélé (figure of 9 Oct 2026), 1,120 in Ituri and 503 in Haut-Uélé. Since the previous bulletin, 87 more in Ituri and 33 more in Haut-Uélé. At control points on roads and at borders, 265,075 travellers passed through and 97.8 % had a temperature check.
05 The difficulties encountered
In Ituri, 44 patients are in critical condition, the blood supply is down to 16 bags, only 16 of 26 prevention rings have been opened and 21 of 90 bodies could not be swabbed. In Nord-Kivu, 175 of the 183 beds for suspected cases are occupied, 131 patients are being treated outside treatment centres, the Butuhe checkpoint has remained closed since a security incident on 26 September and 36 of 57 reported deaths occurred in facilities not designated for Ebola. In Haut-Uélé, treatment centres struggle to communicate without a working Starlink connection, data from Pawa and Wamba are not coming in and prevention kits are lacking. In Tshopo, the treatment centre lacks resuscitation equipment and specialists, and the 7 new cases in Bafwasende do not yet have psychosocial support. In Bas-Uélé, there is neither an ambulance nor a treatment centre up to standard, only 19 of 41 checkpoints are working and vaccines are in short supply.
